monotone

were you always plotting my demise?
is there something that i could have done,
or was it truly all just a disguise?
i grasped for justification, but truly, there was none.

sociologists study the dynamics of many households.
similar to how i analyzed your actions,
and tried to figure out why they had me in such a chokehold.
i tried so hard to find a distraction,

but you were able to keep me returning to your game.
i repeatedly returned to the start.
no matter how much you were to blame,
i couldn’t seem to find a way to part.

in the end, you were left unaffected.
while i was abandoned all alone.
i couldn't seem to figure out why no one recollected,
the way in which you made my life feel so monotone.
